Why I Love to Workout and You Should Too!
We as women are told all the time by the shows we watch and magazines we read what the world’s definition of “pretty” is. I love the idea of women banding together to forge our own definition of what pretty is!
I have a beautiful younger sister! She is gorgeous!! Many of my guy friends have called her super model hot! Try growing up with that… Guys would be into me until they met my sister, then they would be…umm Andie who?!?? It was really rough! So I grew up being the funny and smart sister…
Knowing that I wasn’t the pretty one, caused me to not rely on my looks and to work hard and gain confidence in other areas such as academics and hiding behind my camera lens. So I didn’t go to prom, and I didn’t date much at all during my high school years.
But then a funny thing happened after graduation… I got a job working at Charles Schwab and was enrolled in their Schwab University to become a full fledged stock broker. While working full time I headed to night school to get my degree in finance. While all this was happening, to help with stress I decided to get a gym membership. So as I started working out and as my body became stronger so did my confidence! I began to see what was probably there all along… I was cute! Guys started paying attention to me and I was getting asked out a lot! At first I wasn’t quite sure how to deal with all this male attention! It was a very weird thing for me. I was use to not being seen. But I liked being seen! Not just because of the male attention, (don’t get me wrong it was all quite flattering) but for myself! I finally felt confident in my own skin!! I had learned that there is power in working out and taking care of myself . Not just to have a nice figure– (which is a nice bonus) but because when you work out, you are pushing yourself and challenging your amazing body to accomplish amazing feats!!! I always finish a workout and think I did that! If I can do this I can do other hard things! It helps me to feel stronger and more confident!!
I’m not saying that you have to be Ms. Fit America and workout all the time! But start small and you will be amazed at what you will be able to accomplish! Our bodies are amazing and they are capable of anything!!!
So after all this long winded babble I guess what I’m trying to say is love yourself and love your body, take steps to take care of it! Just know whether you are tall or short, big or small you ARE beautiful!!! You define what makes you beautiful!
Inspiring! But I’m guessing you were pretty cute to start with!
Thanks Ashley! 🙂
Hi Andie! I am a student at Brigham Young University. For one of my classes I am writing a paper on healthy living blogs. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about your experiences as a blogger. I would love to set up a time for a phone interview, or I would be happy to email you a few questions if that is easier for you. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in helping me with, and if not this is perfectly fine! I figure there is no harm in asking. Thanks for your time!
Camille!
I’d love to help you out! – Shoot me an email at [email protected] with your questions! 🙂
