5 Life Lessons To Be Learned From The Lego Movie

I’m not sure about you and your crew… But my kiddos are obsessed with The Lego Movie! All summer long as I drove them around to our activities I listened to this movie! You would think I’d be ready to take the DVD to the nearest firing rang, for target practice.. But strangely enough I really LOVE this movie! As I have listened over and over again and I have found some great life lessons to be learned!

Everything is Awesome

Chances are if you are reading this post you too have seen this movie! And I’m sure you can sing the theme song at the drop of a hat! It’s very catchy! Well played Lego Movie peeps! For those of you have not seen it, go rent it now!! The theme song goes like this…

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when you’re part of a team
Everything is awesome when we’re living our dream

Everything is better when we stick together
Side by side, you and I gonna win forever, let’s party forever
We’re the same, I’m like you, you’re like me, we’re all working in harmony

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when you’re part of a team
Everything is awesome when we’re living our dream

We are all so unique and different! So when we work together and we respect each others ideas we can learn from each other and we can live and work in harmony! I need to remember this when I’m on a committee! I tend to want to do things my way! But when I consciously bite my tongue and really listen to others ideas and insight;  two things happen my original idea becomes better and I learn something! When we swallow our pride and really work together Everything Is Awesome!!!

Cat Poster

I sometimes get annoyed at those who are constantly touting “The Secret” put it out in to the universe they say, make a dream board they day… so on and so on! Blah, Blah, Blah… But Vitruvious has it right if we don’t dream and we don’t believe in ourselves, then those thoughts and dream boards account for nada! Believing in ourselves provides courage and courage inspires us to take action and leap! No goal will be mastered until you truly believe you CAN do it and then take ACTION to make it happen!

Good Cop Bad Cop

What’s to be learned from Good Cop/Bad Cop? A Lot!! Every day we can choose to embrace our best self and show the world our inner good cop. Or we can embrace the negativity that is thrown at us and become the “Bad Cop” But guess what we choose who to be! We choose how to take situations, interactions with others and our personal thoughts…we can either choose to see the good and positive in everything, or we can choose to see the negative and bad side of it! It’s completely up to you!! Even when Good Cop’s face is removed with Remover of Na-il, he finally decides to choose his good side in the end!

You Are The Special Quote

I LOVE This!! Every one of us is the Most Talented, Most Interesting, Most Special Person In THE Universe!! That being said I am NOT the most talented at a lot of things! I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, I do NOT have moves like Jagger, and I stink at Video Games… Just to name a few. But I am the Most Talented in what I do well! We all have gifts and abilities – we are ALL the most talented, interesting, and most special person in our corner of the universe! I love this statement so much I even did a super cute vinyl wall art project! Check out my Lego Inspired Wall art on Expressions Vinyl’s blog

Vitruvios

This is a truth bomb if I’ve ever seen one! We spend so much time comparing ourselves to others! I am super guilty of this…I don’t have as many followers as so and so, I wish I had hair like her, I wish I could eat what I want and look like her… And I could go on and on! But we need to hit the brakes on this thought train as soon as we step on it! True we will never be like those we envy or maybe we will as we grow and develop our talents, but that doesn’t matter at all!!! WE need to look ourselves in the mirror and love whom we see staring back and embrace what makes us great! Cause I bet you anything someone is thinking they were like you too!

Those are the little gems I walked away with! What are some insights you’ve  come up with! Or maybe I’m a complete weirdo who thinks way to much about a children’s movie…. That’s OK I like who I am… quirks and all!

Happy Friday and Love To All!

Funny! My sister and I were watching my nieces children and they were obsessed with it too! Seemed like such a strange movie to me. Good to hear this.

    1. It’s one you to sit down and watch and not just over hear! -It’s different, but so clever!

  2. Awesome list! #5 is really perfect for most of us bloggers. Funny thing is that I STILL haven’t seen the LEGO movie. We even bought it, but haven’t watched it yet.

    1. You have to watch it! My hubs and I quote the one-liners as much as our kids 😉
