Chocolate Cherry Brownies

·

Whip It Up Wednesday!

My husbands favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia. He loves it!! So one year to surprise him for Valentines Day I thought I would whip up a Brownie recipe that mirrored the flavors… The first batch I made were adequate but didn’t quite nail the the true cherry chocolate taste… Canned pie cherries were not the way to go to get the right flavor. Discouraged and wanting to get it right for my man… I made it my personal mission to master the best cherry chocolate brownies he had ever had. Cuz I’m stubborn like that! I tried a couple different ideas to get the flavor just right, all were met with failure. I finally perfected the recipe when I decided to use a combo of Marciano Cherries and Cherry Flavoring. This little combo of mine provided just the right flavor I was looking for! Hubby loved the flavor and offered his seal of approval! These are a great Valentine’s Brownie to make for your significant other!!! They will be a hit!!!

Sweet Heart Brownies
Andie Thueson

1 Cup Cocoa
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
2 Sticks butter
2 1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp salt
 5 large eggs
2 tsps vanilla
1 tsp expresso granules — this is my secret ingredient that makes these brownies ROCK!!!

Preheat oven to 350

1. Grease 9×13 pan
2. In small bowl whisk flour and cocoa together to break up any clumps and disperse cocoa, set aside
3. In larger bowl melt the butter in microwave. Add Sugar and salt and stir. Add eggs and vanilla stir until mixed
4. Add the cocoa and flour mixture to liquid mixture. Stir until combined.
5. Scrape the batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes in dark pan or until toothpick comes out mostly clean but with some batter on it

Cherry Middle Layer:

4 Cups Powdered Sugar
4 TBS Water
1 Cup Butter
1 tsp Cherry extract

1 tsp vanilla
1 10 oz jar Marciano Cherries — drained and stems removed — I do add a couple splashes of the juice to my frosting for a little extra flavor.
Combine in mixer  and Spread over cooled brownies

Chocolate Top Layer
1 bag Chocolate Chips
1/2 Cup Butter – 1 Cube
Melt in microwave until just melted and shiny – Then spread over Cherry Layer then refridgerate until Chocolate layer has set!

Then Enjoy these Bad Boys!!

Boston helping out mixing the Dry Ingredients!!! I really need to make him a more manlier apron!!!

Combine Wet Ingredients to Dry and Mix until combined, Look how Pretty!!!
Shhhh!!! This is the secret ingredient it will transform your brownies and heighten the flavor of your chocolate!!!! It acts as a flavor booster… I tsp is all you need! I keep mine in the freezer so it stays fresh until I need it! Since I’m not a coffee drinker!
