Proper English Cucumber Sandwiches

Make It Monday!!
As part of my service to my church I get the privilege of working with the “Activity Day Girls” the girls I work with are 8 & 9 years old. They are a tremendous group of girls and I love working with them!! This past week I had the joy of being in charge of planning our activity. I thought it would be fun to have a Manners Tea Party to teach the girls some proper etiquette and learn how to be a lady. As I was introducing my little lesson, one of the girls grumbled and said “Aren’t we gonna be a lady no matter what?!?” True by birth they are all women, but it takes manner and class to be a lady… and that is the message I was trying to help these lovely girls learn.

I had the the invitations designed by Cohen Lane Designs her Etsy Shop can be found HERE

They were really reasonably priced and Tabitha was a dream to work with!!!

I had the girls dress in their finest attire, some came dressed in a church dress, others got all dolled up like princesses. I wanted the girls to showcase their idea of finest attire! Half the fun watching the girls feel pretty all dressed up!!

For food I kept it pretty simple I just bought mini muffins from the store and cut up apples and made a apple dip and then made some fancy cucumber sandwiches.. At first the girls were hesitant, they didn’t want to try the sandwiches but once they tried them, those girls polished them off!! I was a little shocked by how much food these little gals ate! Make sure you have plenty for them to eat!

For table decorations I just got two long cheap dollar store table clothes of coordinating colors then cut them in half and layered them over one another to cover the round table. I bought cheap daisy flowers that matched the color scheme I had chosen and but them in Mason Jars I had churched up with some Washi Tape. To make the folding chairs look fancy I tied bows out of crepe paper. and taped them down so they were more secure! It really looked super cute!!!

To separate the girls and get them to branch out a bit and sit by different friends I brought markers and had them decorate their cups and then I collected them and shuffled them and placed them back on the tables so the girls would mingle a bit more!!!

Proper English Cucumber Sandwiches
Andie Thueson
1 8 oz Cream Cheese -softened
1/2 Cup Mayo
1 dry Ranch Packet
* Mix ingredients together and let sit in fridge for at least six hours
When ready to serve spread mixture over french bread, then place sliced cucumbers on bread then sprinkle with dill…

These have great flavor!!! Much more robust then a traditional cucumber sandwich!

After the girls ate we went over basic table manners, and then we talked about what it means to be a lady. I included a printable with the main talking points I discussed!!! So enjoy! The girls had a great time and afterwards several of them came up to me to say thank you for a great activity! So glad that at least something stuck. 😉

Down load the printable HERE  It’s formatted to print out as a 4×6
