Red Mountain Resort Saint George, Utah – Review!

· · · · ·

Nestled amongst the beautiful red rocks of St George, Utah lies a beautiful hidden gem, Red Mountain Resort.  Kelly and I had the pleasure of checking it out a couple of weekends ago. If you follow me on Instagram you saw in my stories all the fun we had.

One thing that absolutely surprised me was that most of the guests have been coming to the Red Mountain Resort for years, yep you read that right, years! It was so fun to talk to the other guests and hear their stories of why this beautiful resort has become an annual destination for them.

One woman I met comes every year from Chicago, IL for a week – she lovingly calls her visits her “annual reset.”

After our visit, I could not agree more!

Red Mountain Resort is the perfect blend of adventure, luxury, and a place of spiritual enlightenment.

Whether you want to hike the Narrows, rappel, kayak, lounge around and get spa treatments or even get your Chakras aligned – Red Mountain Resort is for you!

The rooms are well-appointed and luxurious. You are able to purchase packages where most everything is included in one price. We enjoyed the essential retreat which included dozens of activities every day, and all our meals.

Here is a sample schedule of daily activities that you are able to enjoy!

Kelly is man’s man and likes his meat and potatoes so he was more than a little leery about the food situation when we were planning our trip. He thought he was going to be living on “rabbit food” since the resort is billed as a health and wellness retreat. The meals were healthy but super filling and delicious! Kelly loved all the meals and never complained about being hungry. Breakfast and Lunch are served buffet style with many options to choose from. Dinner is served as a 3-course meal including soup, salad, main dish, and dessert!

Red Mountain Resort is truly a unique place to stay. One class we tried was the “Sound Bath” which Kelly actually loved the most! A sound bath is a gentle, yet powerful, experience for the mind and body. The sounds are created by a variety of instruments, including tuning forks, gongs, Shruti box, Himalayan and crystal singing bowls created by Tibetan monks. The aim is to invite deep rest and relaxation and explore self-inquiry. Kelly and I both felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after our class. It was by far one of the coolest experiences I have had.

Every morning you can start with a guided hike in the beautiful mountains that surround the resort. They have guided hikes for every level from beginner to advanced. We opted for the challenge hike which was more of an intermediate level. Our guides Doug and Katie were so helpful and took the time to share the history of the location as well as explain the surrounding wildlife and plants. They were also excellent photographers! Katie snapped this fun panoramic of Kelly and me – gotta love iPhone magic!

Another cool option that Red Mountian Resort offers throughout the week are cooking demos with the chefs of the resort – Kelly and I thoroughly enjoyed attending these demos – The Chefs are so good about showing off some cool techniques to make cooking easier and healthier. So if you are wanting some help to hone your cooking craft – these classes will be right up your ally. Plus you get to try the food they cook! We learned how to make delicious fire-roasted corn chowder and cauliflower alfredo sauce – which I plan on sharing soon on the blog – so stay tuned!

If you are wanting to be pampered they also have a full-service spa on site. Kelly and I snuck away one afternoon for a couples massage and it was the perfect place to relax! The ambiance is so perfect! It is exactly what you would imagine a good spa to be, complete with fancy infused gem water. After all this marathon training business a massage is exactly what the doctor ordered!

This year Kelly and I celebrate 18 years of marriage on the 18th – so it is our golden anniversary! Red Mountain Resort was the perfect place for us to get away and celebrate together sans the kids and reconnect and enjoy just being together!

Red Mountain Resort is perfect for couples, a girls weekend, or a solo trip to just have some 1-1 time reflecting!

No matter what type of trip you have in mind Red Mountain Resort will not disappoint!
