The Crazy Viral 1000 Calorie Workout, But Does It Work?!

· ·

When I first started my blog over 13 years ago now – this 1000 calorie workout was one of the very first workouts I ever posted. At that point in time, I was really just starting my journey. I have learned so much more as I have blogged over the years.

1000 Calorie Workout original reposted viral image from Instagram that lays out the workout and how to complete it.
The OG 1000 Calorie Workout From Way Back When.

It is really fun to look back at some of my older posts to see how far I have come – It’s crazy to see how much better my writing, photography, and quality of work have evolved.

I am so thankful for all my awesome readers who have been with me all these years! It has been one heck of a ride.

The 1000 Calorie Workout {although I am highly skeptical if you actually burn 1000 calories as touted} – is a very real and very effective workout! Even if you don’t hit the 1000 calorie burn mark you are doing some serious toning my friend!! So this one is totally worth updating and re-sharing!

1000 Calorie Workout, a workout based on 7 rounds of simple exercises to help you lose an extra lb every week.
It’s debatable if you actually burn 1000 calories or not, but you will get a serious sweat on, that is for certain!

Since the original pic is so small…I’ll lay out each round of the 1000 calorie workout one more time to make it super clear and offer some easy modifications!

Just follow each round down to know how many reps you will need to complete! It is really easy to follow!

If you need a visual tutorial on how to complete any of the above moves, head over to my exercise video library!

Here are some easy ways to modify:

For Beginner:

  • Instead of a full jumping jack do a hop out and hop back in
  • If you struggle with crunches – do sit ups with your feet tucked under your couch.
  • Squats – to modify just don’t go as low or swap out for lunges if you are more comfortable with that movement.
  • Push Ups – Drop to your knees and do girl push ups! I did my fair share of girl push ups before I graduated to full on push ups!

For More Advanced:

  • Go all out swap out jumping jacks for burpees or mountain climbers
  • Do a variation of V-Ups and Bicycle Crunches so you can add in some oblique work as well
  • Squats – mix up each round add pile squats, and sumo squats into the mix
  • Push Ups – Narrow your arm width and do a couple rounds of diamond or tricep push ups to help shape those triceps!

Really this workout is just a fantastic framework for building any workout – it can be totally customized to you!

  1. Thanks for the tips. After 2 broken ankles in one year and now with metal braces in my leg I can’t run anymore or I risk further injury. It’s really nice to have other exercises that, if I follow them regularly, will help me get and stay fit. I’ll have to modify the jumping jacks to make them low impact for myself, but these exercises and tips are perfect otherwise!

  2. Love this!! Always trying new things & this looks perfect for me!

  3. I love working out and I’m always looking for new ways to burn calories. This is so useful, I’ll definitely use these tips moving forward. Thanks for sharing!
